Debora L. Elsey

Debora Lynn "Debbie" Elsey, 56, of Fredericksburg passed away on June 26, 2014, after an arduous battle with breast cancer.

She was the much loved mother of Crystal Elsey; daughter and pride and joy of Violet Jenks and Raymond Thomsen; cherished cousin to Gwynn Handforth and Sara Stowell; special sister to five siblings; and a deeply treasured friend to more than can be counted.

Debbie lived a life rich in love and laughter. She was a woman who was able to love without reprieve, forgive without question and maintain faith and hope in the face of even the most difficult circumstances. She was happiest spending time with her daughter, being surrounded by friends, having a long chat, at the lake, at church, outside listening to birds sing, practicing sign language, reading her Bible, dancing, drawing and playing with animals, especially her "grandpuppy" Tanner.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Per Debbie's request, don't feel obligated to wear black. She has fought her last struggle and has "entered his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise" (Psalms 100:4).

Flowers may be sent to Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, or a donation may be made to the Cancer Research Institute in Debbie's memory at cancer research.org.
