Robert A. Ware

Robert A. Ware, 73, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Falls Run Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Oct. 11, 1940, in Portland, Ind., he was the son of the late Edgar F. Ware and Ella Ware Estes.

He attended Ball State College. Robert's career included 23 years with ServiceMaster of Downer's Grove, Ill. When he became a vice president of the Capitol Division, he moved to Virginia. That was followed by ownership of ServiceMaster franchises of Merry Maids and ServiceMaster Clean in Fredericksburg, Virginia Beach, and North Carolina.

Retiring in 1994 with his can-do attitude, he managed to stay active playing golf and enjoying his gym membership at the YMCA and, more recently, Powell Wellness Center in Culpeper. He loved gardening on his deck and feeding the birds. Books on tape provided by the Library of Congress, as well as the Bible, were his daily companions, helping to fill his days. He had been a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church and then Resurrection Lutheran Church. Always in communion with his Lord, his spirit now rests with him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Gloria Bair Ware; daughters Renee Bushman (Matt) and Sherri Ware; sister Barbara Teeters (Mike); brother-in-law John Bair and wife Linda; grandchildren Becky Reynolds, Ryan Reynolds, Heather Bushman, Chris Julius and Jessi Julius; nephews Todd Bair and Kai Nielsen; and niece Kim Edwards.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lake of the Woods Rescue Squad, 104 Lakeview Parkway, Locust Grove, VA 22508.

We express our grateful appreciation and love to one and all who cared for him with such dignity and respect at Falls Run. We add our salute.
