James Milton Ashley Sr., 86, of Spotsylvania County passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed working in his woodworking shop and was a retired member of IBEW Local 26. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia G. Ashley of Spotsylvania; his sons, James Milton Ashley Jr. and Donald Lee Ashley and his wife, Kelly, both of Spotsylvania; daughter Betty F. Moyers and her husband, Michael, of Fredericksburg; grandchildren Kristi Proudfoot and her husband, Brent, and M.J. Moyers and his wife, Shannon, both of Fredericksburg; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and South Carolina; and brother John Ashley of Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dave Wendt, Charles Knight Jr., Ray Perrin, Van Snellings, Ryan Snellings and Rutledge Webb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Goshen Baptist Church, 9800 Gordon Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553; or to the American Heart Association, Memorials Processing Center, Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
