History is being repeated in Caroline County, with our second post office being notified that its hours will be shorter.
As a former employee and customer of the Corbin Post Office, two years ago I received a survey to fill out--which I did, pointing out the number of customers we received coming from the south and north of Corbin.
Because we were on a main highway, it was convenient for customers to stop in while they were either going to work or coming home from work.
I often heard, "I like coming here. I very seldom have to wait in line."
We heard our hours would be reduced from eight hours to four hours a day but Saturday's hours would remain the same.
Currently the Corbin post office opens at 12:45 p.m. and closes at 4:45 p.m.
Saturday hours are 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Since the hours have been changed, customers have had to adjust their time of picking up their mail and doing cash business.
Before, customers could come in before 8:30, expect their mail in their boxes and be able to do business. The new hours are an inconvenience for many. It's a loss of customers and a loss of revenue.
I wonder which Caroline County post office will be the next one to see its hours reduced.
