‘Marty’ Martineau

Oliver Kent “Marty” Martineau, 81, a longtime Fredericksburg resident, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his home.

Marty was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former manager of Princess Anne Bowling Center. Marty retired from the federal government in 1981. After retirement, he worked at the Fredericksburg Auto Auction for a number of years. He was a member of Fredericksburg Elks Lodge 875.

Survivors include his wife, Sue R. Martineau; four sons, Kevin Martineau and wife Diane of Fredericksburg, Michael Martineau and wife Mary Jo of Ruther Glen, Joe Martineau of King George County and Lee Robinson of Ruther Glen; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Agnes Halfacre and husband Boyd of Chicago and Elizabeth Grohnke and husband Bryan of Fairfax County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A Mass of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
