Walton Leon Kimble

Walton Leon Kimble, 75, of Rhoadesville passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014.

Leon was everybody's friend and a loving, caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a loving husband of 57 years to Rita Kimble.

He suffered for two years with medical issues. He kept a very good spirit the whole time.

Leon spent 31-plus years working for the Department of Transportation at National Airport and Dulles International Airport as a facility manager. He was a founder in the establishment of Woodlawn Little League and the baseball fields at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria. He was a project manager for Frederick County public schools construction in Frederick, Md.

Leon's last endeavor was driving the FRED bus in Fredericksburg, which he loved doing, and he loved the people he knew at FRED.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Haberly Kimble; his children, Rob Kimble, Kathy Kremnitzer and Linda Kimble; his brothers, Ed "Leroy," Glenn and Howard; his grandchildren, Kelley and Matthew Kremnitzer, Lauren Capps, Cassie and Christina Kimble and Patrick Fogle; and his great-grandchildren, Andrew Kremnitzer and Lilly Fogle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walton Hammond Kimble, and his mother, Lillian Talbot-Kimble-Downs-Figgins.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers or donations to the family, please donate to a local hospice in honor of Walton Leon Kimble.
