The Rev. Artie B. Curtis

The Rev. Artie Bernard Curtis, 63, of Stafford County passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at his residence, with his wife by his side.

The Rev. Curtis was a native of Stafford, having lived in White Oak his entire life. He was a graduate of Stafford High School and of the Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary, where he received his bachelor's degree in theology. The Rev. Curtis was an ordained Baptist minister. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He volunteered with hospice, serving in the bereavement department. He served as a chaplain intern at Mary Washington Hospital while completing the first semester in clinical pastoral education there.

The Rev. Curtis retired from NSWC at Dahlgren after 36 years as a computer specialist.

He loved preaching the Gospel, his wife and daughter, his basset hounds, answering questions for Got Questions, his Facebook friends and watching the Old West cowboy movies. Most of all, he loved his Lord.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Virginia L. Curtis of Stafford; his daughter, Roxanne Wait and husband David of Dennysville, Maine; several cousins; and his special cat Lulu.

The Rev. Curtis was predeceased by his father, Cleveland Bernard "Dinksey" Curtis, and his mother Rena Virginia Allen Curtis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Cov-nant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at noon Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery.
