Francis R. Cawley

Francis Robert Cawley, 83, born Nov. 20, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home in Fredericksburg.

The youngest of six children, he grew up in Brooklyn, served in the Korean War, raised his family in Great Neck, N.Y., and retired to Midlothian.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Theresa, and a caring father to Frank Cawley and his wife, Gail, and daughters Kerrie Cycan and her husband, Alan, Kathleen Cawley, Kristin Cawley Friedman and her husband, Rich, and Kara Riemer and her husband, Rob. He was also lovable grandfather "Gappy" to Katie, Kalen, Kelsey, Jack, Holly, Emma and Nora. He is survived by scores of nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

A rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with a visitation to follow until 6 p.m.

A Mass of celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

He will be forever remembered and missed by all who loved him.
