Be more secure about security badges

Once again I was in a retail establishment and saw a Defense Department employee walking around with her security badge hanging out for public view.

I see those badges hanging by the lanyard over rearview mirrors in vehicles where the windows are not closed.

The most recent 9/11 Commission Report stated that we are once more becoming complacent in matters of security and personal awareness.

Last year, the Navy Yard shooter gained access with a badge that was not his.

Those individuals wearing badges outside their workplace are making themselves targets.

There are annual briefings to employees concerning security. People, please take heed. Those briefings are not just words; you may be endangering yourselves and those around you.
