Phyllis A. Taylor

Phyllis Anne Taylor, 75, of Locust Grove passed away at her residence on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014.

Born in Jonesville, Phyllis graduated from Avon Grove High School. She later graduated magna cum laude with a degree in business administration from Troy State University, Troy, Ala.

Phyllis served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959, and later retired from the U.S. Department of the Navy as a senior program analyst after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Lake of the Woods Church and the Lions Club.

Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Cynthia L. McPherson and her husband, Wayne, of Fredericksburg and Pamela J. Hairfield and her husband, Wayne, of Spotsylvania County; four granddaughters, Lauren P. Tinnell and her husband, Mark, of Ruther Glen and Sarah T. Yuhasz and her husband, Michael, Heather T. Rose and her husband, Ed, and Tammy R. Barlow and her husband, Mike, all of Fredericksburg; and nine great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Taylor Boutchyard, Brian and Brooke Tinnell, Mickayla and Bradley Rose and Brittany, Jessica and Kendall Barlow. Survivors also include two sisters, Frances Honeycutt and her husband, Brown, of Parkesburg, Pa., and Wilma Peters of Petersburg; and special nieces Gail A. Abel of Unionville, Pa.; Loretta H. Hines of Wagontown, Pa., and Wanetta Honeycutt, of Downington, Pa.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen Maness; a brother, JayCee Maness; and her companion, Bradford Noud.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Lake of the Woods Church in Locust Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Phyllis to the Lake of the Woods Church or the Lions Club.
