Carolyn H. Whittaker

Carolyn H. Whittaker, 74, of Scottsville died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Carolyn was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Summersville, W.Va., to the late Victor and Hattie Harless. She was a longtime member of Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Cleveland S. Whittaker Sr.; a son, Cleveland "Smitty" Whittaker; three sisters, Maxine Pegram, Ernestine Townsend and her husband, Carroll, and Lillie Harless; and four brothers, John, Richard, Eugene and Gary Harless.

She is survived by Melissa and Jason Evans of Scotts-ville; a great-great-nephew, Kenneth Hunter Evans; three brothers, Victor Delmas Harless and his wife, Merlene, Roger and Bill Harless; two sisters, Shirley Chess and Althea Loving; nieces Vicki Drumheller and her husband, Waddell, of Scottsville and Sharon Kidd of Portsmouth; and nephews Steven Townsend and his wife, Jennifer, of Lynchburg and Rusha Whittaker. She also leaves behind numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including special friends Pastor Elsie Butler and Terri Mayo and her daughter, Amy.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
