Naomi V. Hundley

Naomi Vernette Viar Hundley, 91, of Heathsville passed away at her home on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Hundley; three sisters; and a brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynette Loftus (Chris) of Chester and Almeda McKenney (Mike) of Callao; five sons, David Hundley (Madlyn) and Robert Hundley, both of Heathsville, Carroll Hundley (Kathie) and Charles Hundley (Katie). both of Richmond, and Jean Hundley (Kathie) of Fairfax; 18 grandchildren, Krista H. Sisk, Paul Hundley, Jason Hundley, Heather H. Champ, Erin Hundley, Matthew Hundley, Chad Hundley, Elizabeth Hundley, Charles Hundley, Rhett Parker, Amber Hundley, Stephen Loftus, Ellynn Loftus, Lauren Hundley, Sarah H. Morris, Julia H. Self, Caroline McKenney and Patrick McKenney; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Faulconer of Culpeper, Marjorie Green of Fredericksburg and Geraldine Clark of Lady Lakes, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hundley was a member of Smithland Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught children's Sunday school for more than 65 years. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union within her church and the Rappahannock Baptist Association, supporting local, national and international missions. Born in Amherst County on May 13, 1923, Vernette met Ralph in 1942 at a church conference at Massanetta Springs. Their marriage in 1944 began a life united in dedicated service to their family, church and community until his death in 1986.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 30, at Smithland Baptist Church in Heathsville. Interment will follow in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
