Wendy Adamczyk, 29, of Orange County owns the Bead Parade on U.S. 17 in Stafford County.

Her 6-month-old son, Liam, keeps her company at the shop, and staff and customers have started calling him "the bead baby."

Who has been your greatest influence?

My grandmother, Edwina. She's such a free spirit, and she's so happy. She just has always encouraged me to do what I want to do and not to be afraid.

How do you want to be remembered?

As having been happy and not afraid to do things. Having lived my life to the fullest.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

The only kind of failure is not actually doing it.

What celebrity do you most identify with?

I like Adam Sandler. He's not conventional. He's a little bit crazy, and I like that he's so funny. And I think it's cool that he likes penguins.

If a TV movie were made about your life, who would you choose to play you?

Mary Stuart Masterson.

What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

Chocolate. Decadent chocolate. And "heavenly hash" ice cream.

When I was little I wanted to be ...?

I was gonna go to pharmacy school. But I decided I didn't want to county pills all day. I'd rather count beads.

What misconceptions might people have about you?

I'm shy. And sometimes people might look at me and think I'm a little stand-offish.

What's so magical about beads?

It's just so amazing. The combinations are endless. Some are handmade. Some are machine made. Some are dug from the earth. They're all so beautiful. When I die they're gonna think I'm crazy because they're gonna find all these beads in all different places.
