North Stafford Step Team Wins National Competition

North Stafford High School’s step team stomped and clapped their way to victory in a national competition sponsored by the movie, “Stomp the Yard.”

The local steppers beat three other finalists by getting more than 50 percent of the vote. About 14,000 people voted for them on the movie’s Web site.

It’s part of the company’s promotion of its new movie, “Stomp the Yard,”which reveals the rich tradition of stepping at a fictional black college.
