Recent UMW grad killed by lightning strike

A woman who was struck and killed by lightning while jogging in Virginia Beach was a recent UMW grad.

VIRGINIA BEACH-- A woman who was struck and killed by lightning while jogging near the waterline in Virginia Beach has been identified as Stephanie Dawn Kirpes, 23, a May graduate of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.

She was struck at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday in the city’s Sandbridge section, police said. The Woodbridge woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
