Yong Hui Zhang was stabbed to death in the chest, police said today.

After a multiple-day autopsy by the Medical Examiner in Richmond, it was determined that the body recovered Sunday morning in Sussex County did belong to Zhang and the stab wound was the cause of death.

Zhang also had head trauma, said Natatia Bledsoe, of the Fredericksburg Police Department.

However, she said, the medical examiner could not determine whether the head wound was caused by a blunt object or Zhang’s head hitting the concrete slab outside the Charles Street house where he was said to be abducted and his blood was later found.

Police did confirm that the head wound occurred sometime during the initial abduction, but the location in which the stabbing took place could not be identified.

It could have been anywhere along the route from Fredericksburg to Sussex, where his body was found in a deserted wooded area.

The couple charged with abducting the 24-year-old delivery man have not been charged with murder, but they were arraigned this morning on other charges and are set to go before a judge for a joint preliminary hearing Aug. 7.

Jermaine Lamont Montgomery, 34, and Marcey Odessa White, 36, were arraigned today in Fredericksburg General District Court on charges including abduction, carjacking, credit card theft and conspiracy.

White was appointed the public defender’s office and Montgomery will be represented by Tara-Beth Coleman.

The arraignment was done by closed-circuit video and Judge John Stevens said both Montgomery and White will remain at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
