Spotsylvania County authorities are looking for a dog that badly injured a 60-year-old woman Sunday and caused fatal injuries to her dog.

Sheriff’s 1st Sgt. Liz Scott said the woman was walking her black Labrador in the area of Dewberry Drive in Wilburn Farms subdivision about 1 p.m. when a Rottweiler mix attacked her dog. While attempted to cover herself and her dog from the attack, Scott said, the woman was bitten numerous times.

The woman’s injuries included a broken shin bone and a broken finger, Scott said. Her dog had to be euthanized because of the seriousness of its injuries.

Animal control officers canvassed the area in an attempt to find the Rottweiler but were unsuccessful. Residents in the area were notified of the incident via the county’s reverse 911 system.

Anyone who sees the dog is advised to call the Sheriff’s Office at 582-7115 and not approach the animal.

Go figure this happens one street over from where I live. Explains the news truck I just saw and the animal control driving around the neighborhood. I think I know of the lady, as I've seen her before walking her dog. A crying shame really.

Wow... So if the lab barks at the dog then the dog can maim both the dog and the owner to death and near death? Seriously, I want to hear your definition of provoked. Please use one negative in your sentances, and sometimes commas can your friend. Hopefully the experience with the Sullivan case will help the Spotsy Animal Control on this case.

When you all get free from your house and provoke me and I attack you dont be suprised. Dogs do not attack for no reason. Thanks FLS for throwing out half the facts and calling it a "Rotti" mix. Many dogs are tri colored and are big. People get real stuff happens and it is sad but the dog was more then likely provoked. Now go put your torches out, the witch hunt is over.

If your dog attacks me or mine, I will kill it. I wont think twice about what the bleeding heart liberals think, or the whack jobs from PETA. Its that simple.

try to hide behind excuses, if you want to keep a bad dog you have to be responsible for it, expect that they can get out and take more precautions than you would for a normal dog.
