Date published: 10/30/2009

Two men were charged with robbery after they held up a man in a Walmart parking lot late Thursday before going inside the store to shop, police said.

Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the incident occurred in Central Park about 11:50 p.m. The victim, a 20-year-old Spotsylvania man, said he was confronted by two males. On the them threatened him with a large black knife and demanded that he turn over his cash.

The victim gave them $20,and the suspects fled on foot. Bledsoe said the victim discreetly followed them and saw them enter the food entrance of the store.

Police arrived and went into a different entrance. The suspects were coming out of the store and officers went in. It was not clear if they bought anything.

The suspects were positively identified by the victim and were taken into custody without incident. The knife was recovered from one of their pockets.

Michael Marshall, 28, of Fredericksburg, and Brandon Mills, 18, of Spotsylvania, were charged with robbery. They were placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

navyorchid, are you under the misconception (posted by Ron_C , Oct. 30, 2009 8:37 pm)
that there has never been a robbery committed in Orange? Or are you just using this as yet another opportunity to bemoan the fact that common sense won out against you and others opposition to building a retail store on property that had been zoned for commercial use for decades.

if all criminals were this stupid.... (posted by Jaes , Oct. 30, 2009 6:55 pm)
crime would be comical.
