GOP wins supervisor races in Stafford

Republicans won all four Stafford County supervisor elections.

Republicans won all four Stafford County supervisor elections. Each candidate won with at least 50 percent of the vote, even in three-way races.

Aquia Supervisor Paul Milde and Garrisonville Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer became the first incumbents to win re-election in the county since 2003.

The only incumbent to lose was Joe Brito, whose seat went back to the man he defeated four years ago: Gary Snellings. Snellings will serve his second non-consecutive term on the Board of Supervisors.

Susan Stimpson completed the Republican sweep by winning a three-way race for the Falmouth seat vacated by George Schwartz, who chose not to run for a second term.

“I think the state election carried through to the local level,” Schwartz said as the results rolled in.
