A locker room visitor

So I'm standing in the Redskins' locker room with The Washington Examiner's John Keim and The Washington Post's Jason Reid waiting to interview right tackle Stephon Heyer this afternoon when linebacker Chris Wilson noticed something rustling beneath his locker. Wilson called over Malcolm Kelly, whose locker is adjacent to his. They pulled back a couple pieces of clothing and shoe boxes to discover a tiny snake slithering along the baseboard. From there, the entertainment value went through the roof. "Somebody do something!" Wilson shouted. The snake's presence made a few guys squirm, to the mild amusement of others. Not many guys were in the locker room at that point. Luckily for them, Stephon Heyer came to the rescue. He moseyed over and picked it up by the tail, Crocodile Hunter style. The little guy was scared, for sure. Heyer, ever the humanitarian, carried it outside and set it free as concerned teammates warned him about the snake possibly being poisonous. It wiggled free from his grasp a couple times, and it snapped at Heyer each time he tried to pick it back up. "I'm from Atlanta, and down south you see all types of bugs, insects, reptiles and stuff like that. Just pick him up and throw them outside." As for Wilson's reaction? "That means he hasn't seen one before. He's from Flint, Michigan. Ain't no nature in Flint. It's a concrete jungle up there." Not sure how it got into the Redskins' headquarters. We are near the woods out here in Ashburn, though. Maybe it lost its way. Regardless, this one was an instant classic. To see pictures, check my Twitter feed @Rich_Campbell.
