On September 27, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson stopped a vehicle in Ruther Glen for a traffic infraction. After investigating, Ramon Malave, 44, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving by speed – 91 in a 55. He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 2, 2009 was set. On September 27, 2009, Deputy J. K. Miller stopped a vehicle in Bowling Green when it appeared the occupants were fighting inside the vehicle. After investigating, Bruce A. Booker, 43, of Culpeper was charged with driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a breath test. He was ordered held under a $2500 bond and a court date of October 2, 2009 was set. His passenger, Betty L. Kemp, 53, of Culpeper was charged with being drunk in public. She was ordered held until sober and a court date of November 6, 2009 was set. On September 29, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard responded to a disturbance call in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Christopher Slaughter, 26, of Highland springs was charged with being drunk in public. He was ordered held until sober and a court date of December 9, 2009 was set. On September 29, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. After investigating, Gregory B. Howard, 50, of Woodford was charged with driving under the influence. He was ordered held under a $1000 bond and a court date of October 2, 2009 was set. On September 30, 2009, Deputy R. J. Anderson responded to a reported larceny at Caroline High School. After investigating, a male juvenile was charged with grand larceny and possession of a knife while on school grounds. Petitions were issued and the juvenile was released to his parents. On October 1, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood responded to a reported disturbance in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Patria S. Shepherd, 32 was charged with assault. Lawrence D. Toler, 22, and Michael R. Haley, 22, both of Ruther Glen were charged with brandishing a firearm. Shepherd and Toler were ordered held without bond and Haley was ordered held under a $1500 bond. Court dates for all were set on October 2, 2009. On October 2, 2009, Deputy R. J. Anderson responded to a disturbance at Caroline High School. After investigating, Ian A. Rivera, 18, of Ruther Glen was charged with disorderly conduct. He was ordered held under a $1500 bond and a court date of October 9, 2009 was set. On October 2, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton responded to a reported shoplifting in Ladysmith. After investigating, a male juvenile was charged with underage possession of alcohol and shoplifting. Petitions were filed and the juvenile was released to his parents. On October 2, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton stopped a vehicle in Woodford for a traffic infraction. After investigating, Samantha Musgrove, 18, of Spotsylvania was charged possession of marijuana. She was released on a summons and a court date of October 23, 2009 was set. On October 3, 2009, Deputy T. P. Connolly responded to a disturbance in Ruther Glen. After investigating, James A. Johnson, Jr., 40, of Ruther Glen was charged with breaking and entering and vandalism. He was ordered held under a $5000 bond and a court date of October 9, 2009 was set. Caroline County Sheriff's Office Wrap Up According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 7 drug arrests, 2 DUI arrests, 6 domestic violence arrests, 71 other criminal arrests and issued 9 animal control summons or arrests during the past week. The deputies served 120 civil papers, issued 195 traffic summonses, handled 10 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 23 alarm calls, and dealt with 4 juvenile offenders. The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 409 calls for service and handled 1,842 telephone inquiries. The CCSO also logged 18 calls assisting outside agencies and had 152 self-initiated calls.
