On October 2, 2009, Deputy R. O. Carty responded to a report of livestock running at large. After investigating, Michael A. Wilkerson, 47, of Dawn was charged with 4 counts of allowing an animal to be at large. He was released on summonses and a court date of November 6, 2009 was set. On October 5, 2009, Deputy R. J. Anderson responded to a fight at Caroline High School. After investigating, a male juvenile was charged with malicious wounding. He was released to his parents and petitions were obtained. On October 6, 2009, R. J. Anderson responded to a fight at Caroline High School. After investigating, a male juvenile was charged with assault. He was released to his parents and petitions were obtained. On October 8, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. After investigating, Stephen C. Matthews, 18, of Waldorf, Maryland was charged with possession of marijuana. He was released on a summons and a court date of December 9, 2009 was set. On October 10, 2009, Deputy T. P. Connolly responded to a domestic in Ruther glen. After investigating, Henry W. Mills, III, 39, of Ruther Glen was charged with abduction and domestic assault. He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 13, 2009 was set. On October 10, 2009, Deputy C. S. Wooldridge responded to a report of shots fired in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Richard J. Thomas, Sr., 27, of Spotsylvania was charged with 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, 1 count of destruction of property, 1 count of reckless handling of a firearm, and having violated an emergency protective order. He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 14, 2009 was set. On October 10 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Gary D. Gilbert, 19, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence after having illegally consumed alcohol. He was ordered held under a $1000 bond and a court date of October 16, 2009 was set. On October 10 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Leonard W. Parker, 26, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence – 3rd offense, refusing to submit to a breath test – 3rd offense and driving on a revoked license. He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 14, 2009 was set. Caroline County Sheriff's Office Wrap Up According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 8 drug arrests, 2 DUI arrests, 4 domestic violence arrests, 195 other criminal arrests and issued 3 animal control summons or arrests during the past week. The deputies served 287 civil papers, issued 229 traffic summonses, handled 9 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 27 alarm calls, and dealt with 17 juvenile offenders. The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 409 calls for service and handled 2,397 telephone inquiries. The CCSO also logged 36 calls assisting outside agencies and had 301 self-initiated calls.
