On October 18 2009, Deputy C. B. Pavie stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Ruther Glen. After investigating, Shaun A. Mahanes, 29, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence – 4th offense, refusing to submit to a breath test, and driving on a revoked drivers license. He was ordered held under a $5000 bond and a court date of October 16, 2009 was set. On October 18, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb received a report of a larceny in Ladysmith. After investigating, Jessica L. Cooper, 22, of Ruther Glen was charged with one count of forgery and one count of uttering. When Deputy Lipscomb served the warrants, an additional count of felony child endangerment was also placed against Ms. Cooper. She was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 20, 2009 was set. On October 19, 2009, Deputy E. S. Gershowitz responded to a domestic in Bowling Green. After investigating, Christopher D. Dement, 24, of Bowling Green was charged with domestic assault, felony vandalism, and damaging facilities of a public utility. He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 20, 2009 was set. Caroline County Sheriff's Office Wrap Up According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 5 drug arrests, 3 DUI arrests, 15 domestic violence arrests, 243 other criminal arrests and issued 8 animal control summons or arrests during the past week. The deputies served 349 civil papers, issued 167 traffic summonses, handled 14 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 23 alarm calls, and dealt with 7 juvenile offenders. The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 428 calls for service and handled 1,928 telephone inquiries. The CCSO also logged 34 calls assisting outside agencies and had 328 self-initiated calls.
