Sheriff's report

On October 25 2009, Deputy J. K. Miller received a report of a missing juvenile.  After investigating, Jason J. Grantham, 25, , of Ruther Glen was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of marijuana.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of October 27, 2009 was set.   

On October 25, 2009, Deputy J. O. Cecil received a report of a larceny in Ladysmith.  After investigating, Robert K. Brown, 18 and Malikh Jamison, 19, both of Ruther Glen were charged with shoplifting and underage possession of alcohol.  Both were ordered held under a $1,000 bond and a court date of October 28, 2009 was set. 

On October 25, 2009, Deputy C. S. Overman stopped a vehicle in Bowling green for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Santmyer A. Weaver, 33, of Bowling green was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence.  She was released on a personal recognizance bond.  Court information was not available. 

On October 26, 2009, Deputy R. J. Anderson responded to a report of drug possession at Caroline Hugh School.  After investigating, a juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana.  A petition was obtained and the juvenile was released to their parents. 

On October 27, 2009, Deputy B. N. Doucet stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Melinda E. Poirier, 43, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence.  She was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of November 6, 2009 was set. 

On October 29, 2009, Deputy F. L. Brennan stopped a vehicle in Bowling Green for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Edward J. Deasey, III, 23, of Garner, NC was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.  He was ordered held under a $5000 bond and a court date of November 4, 2009 was set. 

On October 29, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard encountered a citizen in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Kenneth M. Madison, 25, of Ruther Glen was charged with possession of a controlled substance and trespassing.  He was ordered held under a $3500 bond and a court date of October 30, 2009 was set. 
 
On October 29, 2009, Deputy C. B. Pavie responded to a reported suspicious person in Ladysmith.  After investigating, Ray T. Harris, Jr., 20, of Ruther glen was charged with being drunk in public, possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol.  He was ordered held under a $1500 bond and a court date of November 4, 2009 was set. 

On October 30, 2009, Deputy C. S. Wooldridge responded to a Milford address in reference to an argument which led to Malicious Wounding.  Francisco Gomez, 24, of Milford was charged and was held without bond and a court date of November 4, 2009 was set. 

Caroline County Sheriff's Office Wrap Up

 

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 10 drug arrests, 5 DUI arrests, 5 domestic violence arrests, 106 other criminal arrests and issued 7 animal control summons or arrests during the past week.  The deputies served 144 civil papers, issued 47 traffic summonses, handled 21 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 23 alarm calls, and dealt with 9 juvenile offenders.  The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 405 calls for service and handled 1,782 telephone inquiries.  The CCSO also logged 50 calls assisting outside agencies and had 201 self-initiated calls. 

 

From recent Fredericksburg Police reports:

  • Michael Baez, 37, of Ruther Glen was arrested for DUI in the 2800 block of Plank Rd.

  •  AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:
    Headliners Barbershop, 241 Charles St, 10/29 1:00 pm. A Ruther Glen resident reported that he was at the barber shop when he became involved in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance. As the victim was leaving the shop, the other subject cut him in the face with a knife in an unprovoked assault. The victim was driven by a friend to Mary Washington Hospital, where he received stitches for his injury. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
