Meet The Neighbor
Clyde Matthews

When Clyde Matthews picks up his morning papers, he's reminded what he loves about College Heights. Across the street, he sees a young mom loading her kids into a minivan. And next door, he's likely to notice a college student headed for UMW.
Matthews, 71, says that mix - families, students and retired residents - is one of the reasons he's stayed for 34 years.
"It's quiet, it's neighborly and you feel you can walk around the neighborhood and feel safe," he said.
He and his wife, Mary Lou, have raised three daughters in their Colony Street home.
And, ironically, when they moved in, an older couple lived in the house across from them. Now, "We're the older people and retirees and they're the young family."
Looking back, he wouldn't have had it any other way.
"It doesn't get any better."
