Friendly Ice Cream Corp. filed for bankruptcy yesterday and closed 63 restaurants. Four Friendly's restaurants in Virginia were closed: two in Richmond, one in Midlothian and one in Colonial Heights. The Friendly's in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania will remain open. Several years ago Friendly's bought a 1-acre lot at Celebrate Virginia South in Fredericksburg near the Homewood Suites but hasn't done anything with the site. Alabama-based Sterne Agee announced Wednesday that it was buying Richmond-based financial advisory firm Anderson Strudwick, which has an office on Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg.
