The Virginia Department of Health monitors 46 public beaches statewide, including Fairview Beach in King George County.

In its 33rd year, this paddling fest on the Rappahannock River this year is co-sponsored by the Virginia Outdoor Center and the American Canoe Association. At Fredericksburg's Old Mill Park.

Celebrate the Rapp with an ACA Green Paddle Event, June 1
"A fun and educational day of family-oriented events that celebrate the Rappahannock River," says the American Canoe Association. On-water instruction, races for all ages, river cleanups, river films and more. At Fredericksburg's Riverfront Park, Charlotte and Sophia sreets.
