Red Dragon Brewery on Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg is one of four area craft breweries to win awards in the 2018 Virginia Craft Beer Cup.

Four Fredericksburg area craft breweries have won awards in the 2018 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, which was held June 4 at WestRock in Richmond.

This year 375 beers in 27 categories competed for awards in what is the largest state competition of its kind in the United States. It’s held by the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild to give members the opportunity to compete, obtain critical feedback from certified judges and get statewide recognition to help build their brands.

The local winners were:

  • European Sour Ale category: Red Dragon Brewery, first for Here Be Dragon; Strangeways Brewing, third for Uberlin
  • Pale American Ale category: 6 Bears and a Goat, first for Mae West
  • Dark and Strong British Beer category: Adventure Brewing, second for Black Sail Scotch Ale.
