"Many speakers who spoke against in-person instruction at this time were affiliated with the Spotsylvania Education Association..."
I watched and listened as all the board members were allowed to give their board member comments. I was struck by how many made this about money, Chiefly, that they weren’t getting enough cares act money for cleaning supplies. Are you kidding me? So disingenuous. The budget was fully funded last spring for a 100% in person instruction. Since instruction is remote, that means there is millions of dollars in savings from things like unused bus diesel fuel savings, lunch monitors, sub teachers, utilities costs, just to name a few. Cleaning supplies can be bought out of savings from things that were unable to be used. Additionally, employees who are not working should NOT be paid full salary or stipends. Blame Supt for that. Plus he gave childcare to teachers and other employees kids “clustered” in school sites. But says it’s too dangerous to cluster kids for class? Is this really about safety, or politics? Dr. Baker, seems to be cowering at the feet of the teachers union. Similar situation in Stafford. We seem to be lacking people with real leadership skills.
“If people would put their faith in God instead of a mask or a piece of fabric, things would be a little better,” he said.
Is this guy putting God vs science? This is the individual making decisions about my child’s education? As a healthcare provider and a Christian, I’m perplexed at where this is going. We protect ourselves from our sickest patients with masks, gloves, and distance (when possible) among other measures. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be anyone left to care for the sick. I’ve seen the death, misery, and damage firsthand. How does this individual defend our children’s education while rejecting the science it teaches? He should read this link:
If the schools are not willing to provide full-time eucation, the county should issue vouchers so parents can put their kids in a private school that takes education more seriously.
If your kid is serious about Calculus, Physics, or Chemistry a private school is the worst place you can put them.
If your kid is serious about calculus, physics or chemistry, sign them up at a community college or university.
Get your vitamin D levels checked! We could end this, masks too, if we all had adequate vitamin D levels.
Covid is going to get worse come fall because people will get less sun exposure. All these politicians should be talking about vitamin D!
