Q: I am fortunate enough to be a snowbird. We own a condo in Jacksonville, Florida. Our condo is in a development that was purchased by an investor/developer in the late 1980s. The developer improved the existing units, added several new buildings, sold some of the units and rented out the rest. We think the developer still controls a bit over 51% of the units.

Stafford County supervisors should have learned a lesson from their very expensive, and very embarrassing, attempt to block a Muslim group from putting a cemetery on land it bought for that purpose and backed down a long time ago.

Vulcan Materials Company’s recent decision to voluntarily withdraw rezoning applications that would have allowed the company to build a new concrete manufacturing plant and expand its rock mining operations in North Stafford over nearby residents’ strenuous objections was a welcome relief.

The council approved a $50.5 million budget for Fredericksburg City Public Schools, but a resolution in support of a new elementary school that was introduced by Councilman Jason Graham was deferred until the May 25 meeting.
