Mary Washington Healthcare will host an open house at the Regional Cancer Center at Montross to introduce its cancer services clinical team, and to reintroduce radiation therapy services to the Northern Neck. The open house will feature remarks from Mary Washington Healthcare CEO, Mike McDermott and Montross Mayor Joey King. All community members, business leaders and officials are welcome to participate in the tours. The event will be held Wednesday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 15394 Kings Hwy., Montross. The University of Mary Washington’s Center for Economic Development is holding a session called “Introduction to Purchasing in the Commonwealth” that shares how to do business with the university and provides a high-level overview of Virginia’s purchasing process on July 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at its 1125 Jefferson Davis Highway, Suite 400 office. Casey Hollins, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s communications specialist, received national recognition from her peers at the Cooperative Communicators Association at the CCA Institute in Omaha, Neb. Hollins received the 2016 Michael Graznak Award, which recognizes CCA members under the age of 35 who have outstanding communications skills and show promise of a bright future.

Technology firm Proxios has donated a cloud-based information technology system to help streamline and secure the management and operations of Sunshine Ballpark. Fredericksburg resident and Proxios vice president Michael Euripides serves on the Sunshine Ballpark Foundation board of directors. The local charity that provides character-building, educational activities for Fredericksburg-area children now manages its operations with Proxios’ service that handles virtual storage, upgrades and security for its facility management, fundraising and other operations. Proxios also supported the charity as a lead sponsor at this year’s Sunshine Ballpark Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament on June 13.
